Dear Members,

Hope you are enjoying what has been a beautiful fall season.

The Saltaire Yacht Club construction project is underway!  Many thanks to the board members who donated a tremendous amount of time preparing the SYC for construction by cleaning out the kitchen, the closets, the back room and bar areas. We have wrapped all the kitchenware, barware, wall decor, trophies and plaques to be put in storage.  The trophies and plaques have been stored in homes for safe keeping.

As you know, more than fifty SYC members have been extremely supportive of the Club by agreeing to lend the funds for the project.  The first round of lending is complete and the second round is under way. I want to take this time to thank each of you for your support, generosity and community spirit.

We are very pleased to have Richard LoDuca as our contractor for the project; he and his team will begin demolition this week.  Throughout the construction process, I will be keeping you all updated through regular emails and pictures.  You can also visit the SYC website at to see the progress.

I'm eagerly looking forward to serving as Commodore during this exciting moment in SYC history.  I know it will be a challenge, but I also know I have the strong support of our many outstanding SYC volunteers, who continue to donate so much of their personal time and energy, not only for this construction process, but to the many events we enjoy every season .

Thank you,

Pia Carroll
